I’m an Appy chappy

03 Oct

I know I said in my previous technology post that I’m not one for keeping up with the latest gadgets…then my phone died. Yes, rest in peace my little pay as you go Tesco mobile.

I then decided to give a contract phone a whirl and got the HTC Desire S, after the sales guy tried his best to sell me a Samsung Galaxy S2.Yes, the Galaxy S2 is probably way more up-to-date but it is massive.

So the Desire S it was and that is when I developed my App addiction. It started with Facebook, then Angry Birds, then a recipe App…and on…and on and I have now had to limit myself to one App per month. Still nobody told me you could get some of these free and as a true penniless grad I make the most of anything free.

Solitaire game for the train to work…yes why not. Of course there’s the WordPress App which I have also downloaded.

My Top 5 coolest Apps

1. ColourNote – ColourNote allows you to make notes and checklists easily so for someone who has ideas popping in and out of their head all the time or just a lot to remember this is a must.

2. Barcode Scanner – It took me ages to work this App but I’ve finally got the hang of it. Scan items in a shop to find out their price, description and reviews automatically. You’ll find yourself scanning everything in the store.

Barcode Scanner App lets you look up products

3. Alchemy – A time wasting game where you start with the 4 elements and combine them to get lots of other materials, animals and more. Somehow make the Undead and The Beatles from these elements.

4 – My Days – Personal app for women but very handy.

5. Angry Birds – It’s the ‘Snake’ of the modern phone. Unlike some reviews for the HTC phones, Angry Birds works fine on my phone.

Awesome post. I still have a Blackberry. I sometimes feel like I am missing out on the beauty of the HTC!

It is a really nice phone. I was originally looking at the Wildfire S but I kept hearing bad things about it so I started looking at this one and this was definitely the best option for me. I’ve never used a Blackberry and never really been interested in getting one but like I’ve said I’m not very tech savvy. Give me a phone that works and I’m done.

Hi Megan, Your post reminds me of how the press in Australia made a point of the protesters in Melbourne city who were doing a similar sit in to your Wall Street protest. The press commented how the people protesting commercialism & capitalism were so kitted out with mobiles, blackberries, laptops etc. You actually can’t achieve much without them though, can you.
